In view of the current difficult situation of holding in-person colloquia for our SP2 activity, a virtual meeting took place on 7 December 2020 to discuss a proposal of a new format replacing this activity.
The idea is to let each PhD candidate produce a short video about his/her own research. This video production will be professionally supported by the Media centre of the University.
Motivation: Scientific videos have a broad visibility contributing to the identity shaping of the individual PhD candidates as well as the collective SP2 group.
Expected media outcome: The first stage goal consists in creating a short scientific video including the presentation of the respective PhD candidate, a high-level overview of his/her research field and his/her research. The head of the Media centre, Sascha Helsper, kindly agreed to lead a tutorial on (scientific) video production and to help out with the equipment of the Media center.
SP2 meetings: We will resume to meet on a regular basis to discuss the videos and have an open discussion with the PhD candidates. Along with research-based discussions, Sascha Helsper’s attendance to the meetings will provide us with professional media feedback at expert level.

The next Meeting will be scheduled in January / February 2021, with the exact date and time communicated to every SP2 member via email.
